Ever wondered what a unilateral mastectomy looks like? 💗
Have you ever seen a unilateral mastectomy up close?
I have recently started to work with the beautiful O: she had a unilateral mastectomy after a breast cancer diagnosis, has just finished chemotherapy and is preparing for radiation We are working together to support her with gentle oncology massage and scar massage as her body heals.
Sharing this photo is not to alarm or shock anyone, but to highlight the reality that many people face and why knowing your own body, checking regularly, and noticing changes early can be so important. Anyone can get breast cancer and early detection truly saves lives
Taking a few minutes each month to check your breasts or chest can make a difference. When you check, look and feel for:
Any new lumps, thickened areas or changes in texture
Changes in size or shape of one or both breasts/chest
Skin changes such as dimpling, puckering, redness or rash
Any nipple changes including discharge, inversion, soreness or changes to appearance
If something feels different or unusual, please contact your GP.
If you or a loved one are navigating recovery and would like support with oncology massage or scar massage, I’d be honoured to work with you.
